A Double Anniversary at LIGNA 2025: Polytechnik Celebrates 60 Years of Innovation

This year's LIGNA in Hanover is marked by a special parallel: while the world's leading trade fair for the woodworking and wood processing industry celebrates its 50th anniversary, Polytechnik also looks back on a special anniversary – 60 years of innovative strength and commitment to sustainable energy solutions from biomass.

As a long-standing partner to the industry, Polytechnik has been part of LIGNA from the very beginning and has not missed a single trade fair since – a clear sign of its close ties and ongoing commitment.
This double anniversary makes this year’s trade fair particularly significant for Polytechnik. The company is looking forward to LIGNA 2025 with pride and anticipation, not only to celebrate the past together with the industry, but above all to look to the future – towards a clean, sustainable energy supply from renewable sources.

Our dedicated team presents: Three paths to clean energy

At the Polytechnik stand, a dedicated team of experts will present the company’s three core technologies:

  • PolyCombustion: Tailor-made and highly efficient combustion systems that get the best out of a wide variety of biomasses.
  • PolyCarbonisation: The innovative answer to the production of valuable biocarbon.
  • PolyGasification: Advanced gasification technology for flexible energy production.

A current example of the performance of PolyCarbonisation technology, which can be seen at the trade fair, is the exciting Taaleri project in Finland. Here, a torrefaction plant is being built that will produce up to 60,000 tonnes of torrified briquettes per year from sustainable forest residues – a valuable substitute for fossil coal in industry. Polytechnik has supplied key components such as the low-gas burner and the technology for intelligent energy processing and utilisation (12,000 kW boiler output), thereby supporting efficient, circular recycling of process energy and the production of high-quality ‘green coal’.

For six decades, Polytechnik has been driven by a passion for sustainable research and forward-looking technology. With a strong team of 240 employees in the group, its modernised main plant in Austria and other state-of-the-art production facilities in Europe and China, the company is ideally positioned to meet global challenges. An export rate of over 95% proves that energy knows no boundaries.
